Ullambana Festival 2026 – Honoring Parents, Ancestors, and the Spirit of Filial Piety

The filial Piety season is approaching, surrounding us in every corner. We come together to honor this honorable occasion by remembering our loved ones who have already passed away while celebrating the Buddhist Filial Piety this year during the Lunar Mid-July 2026. According to the Mahayana-Buddhist tradition, this season is called the Ullambana Festival, which is observed by all Buddhists around the world, including the Vietnamese people, whether they are living in their homeland of Vietnam or elsewhere.

This traditional annual ceremony serves as a reminder to honor our deceased loved ones, including our parents, grand-parents, ancestors, family members, relatives, and friends who are no longer with us in this lifetime or in many past lives. On this occasion, we also commemorate all beings in the ten directions of the world who have laid down their lives for our well-being.

Each of us needs to practice the Boddhisattva’s vow to save lives, including our own and those of others. We should apply The Four Immeasurable Minds -Loving-kindness, Compassion, Sympathetic Joy, and Equanimity – in our daily lives to pursue true happiness.

Lễ Hội Vu Lan Báo Hiếu 2026 – Báo Ân Cha Mẹ và Tổ Tiên

Mùa Lễ Hội Vu Lan Báo Hiếu đang trở về với chúng ta trên khắp mọi nẻo đường. Chúng ta cùng nhau trân trọng thời điểm cao quý này để tưởng niệm những người thân thương đã qua đời trong mùa Lễ Báo Ân vào dịp Rằm Tháng Bảy Âm Lịch năm 2026. Theo truyền thống Phật giáo Đại thừa, mùa Lễ này được gọi là Vu Lan Thắng Hội, dành cho tất cả Phật tử trên toàn thế giới, bao gồm mọi người Việt Nam, đang sinh sống tại quê nhà hay bất cứ ở nơi nào.

Dịp Lễ truyền thống thường niên này được tổ chức để nhắc nhở cho chúng ta về công ơn của cha mẹ, ông bà, tổ tiên quá vãng, hoặc bà con quyến thuộc và bạn hữu đã không còn sống cùng chúng ta trong đời hiện tại hoặc nhiều kiếp xa xưa. Trong mùa Lễ Hội này, chúng ta cũng tưởng nhớ đến mọi loài chúng sanh trong mười phương thế giới, những người đã nằm xuống cho chúng ta an hưởng đời sống tốt đẹp.

Mỗi người trong chúng ta cần thực hành lời nguyện của Bồ Tát để cứu độ cho chính mình và mọi người khác. Chúng ta nên ứng dụng Bốn Tâm Vô Lượng – Từ, Bi, Hỷ, Xã vào cuộc sống hàng ngày trong việc theo đuổi hạnh phúc đích thực.
